How to save water (every day)

Romina Bayer

Water is precious. Here are seven simple ways in which you can save water (every single day):

Water plants with leftover cooking water

Potatoe & pasta water is super good for plants, because of all the starch in the water. It’s full of vitamins and minerals and will benefit your plants!

Eat less meat

Animal production uses more water than crops do. You don’t have to go full-on vegan or vegetarian, but already reducing your meat consumption can have a huge impact on your footprint.

Inform yourself

…about the amount of water needed to grow each crop. For example: Avocados need much more water than other plants.

Fill your dishwasher & washing machine to the max

Don’t run the machines half empty, but wait until you have enough items for it to be worth it to run them.

Limit your shower time

Limiting your shower time is one of the best and easiest ways to save water every day. And on that note…

Turn off the water while you soap yourself

There is really no need for it to be running while you are busy putting on soap or shampoo.

Buy second-hand

The fashion industry has a huge demand for water: it is the second biggest water-intensive industry in the world! To produce a single shirt it takes about 2.700 liters of water. Buying second-hand will not only save water but also your pocket 😉
